Have you ever wondered who you were? Has anyone ever told you that you acted just like your father or you looked just like your mother? Did you feel insulted or happy by the comment? Did you beam with pride or hang your head with regret? I have great news for you, child of God! You have been created in the image and likeness of Almighty God (Genesis 1: 27). You do look like your Father. Get excited about it.

The Scriptures state: “When the fullness of time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God” (Galatians 4: 4-6, NASB). This is great news. You should be just like your Father! Get excited about it.

The Father did not make a mistake with any one of us. He had a plan and a purpose for each of us (Jeremiah 29:11). It is up to us to gain understanding of His sovereign will for our lives. As we grow up in Him, we reflect His glory all the more. It’s not an insult to be like your Father.

Your adoption papers were signed by the blood of Jesus. There is nothing more legal than that! As you ponder this truth, allow the Spirit of God to minister to your spirit. You are a son, not a slave. You have all the rights and privileges of being born into the family of God. You were not a mistake. You were chosen as a joint heir with Jesus Christ (Romans 8:17). This is great news! Get excited about it.

Have you not read the Scripture: “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together” (Romans 8:16-17, NKJV). Don’t you see the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit at work here with you? You may not enjoy the “suffering” part, but the glorified part has got to be awesome! Get excited about it.

Son of God, wonder no more! Take possession of what is yours in Christ Jesus. You have a seat at the table. I dare you to “occupy until He comes” (Luke 19). My, my, my! You do look like your Father! Stay excited about it.
